I went to Wal Mart yesterday { why do so many of my stories start that way ? } because it's the only one stop shop for stuff around here. I can get a gallon of milk, fishing lures, cat food and socks without running all over town. Anyway...There are benches out front for people to sit on while they wait for their spouse to shop or just sit and talk. There were 2 ladies sitting there as I walked up and I stopped to finish my cigarette before I went in. About then, the doors opened and an elderly man walked out. He's got old stained work pants, a t shirt that's seen better days, old work boots and a worn DeKalb ball cap on. One of those ladies said, "Oh. That poor old man, he looks homeless"....and I had to laugh out loud.

That "poor old homeless man" is Mr G.
A little trivia I happen to know is that in this county, there are about 220,000 acres of farm land....Mr G owns about 80,000 acres of that and that's just in this county alone. He has more in 2 other adjoining counties. I've known him most of my life and used to work for him as a teenager. Hauling hay, detasseling corn, just whatever. That man is about as far from poor and homeless as you can get.

He looks that way because he's been farming all his life and at 80, he's still at it. His Sons have taken over the day to day of running the farms, but you'll still see him out driving a tractor or moving equipment.

I talked to him a couple years ago and asked him if he was ever going to retire and he said "I tried for a week and just couldn't do it".

That poor old homeless man proceeded to go climb into a $100,000 F - 350 King Ranch lol.
