We have a wealth of categories for different musical genres but thought we were still missing a few so I'm adding another. This one is pretty general so if doesn't fit well in one of the others, you can put here for all to enjoy. A little blurb about your connection to a song or why you like is nice but not required

I'll start with this one. I think Eminem is an absolute lyrical genius but admit I don't like all of his stuff but the mix of Rihanna in this one and the story it tells keeps me playing again and again. It's 15 years old.

Next I'll share a few from Garland Jeffreys. Both come from his brilliant 1977 album, Ghost Writer. I have this on vinyl and it is one of my favorites. The production and mix is top notch and it sounds really great on my stereo setup.

Thanks DA!

Oh but you should never have started with the reggae music, one of my most favorite genres. Near where I used to live, there was this tiny dive hole-in-the-wall club that featured different local reggae acts on the weekends and I loved going there as reggae is about the only music a clumsy oaf like me could dance to, if you want to call it that.

Of course Bob & Ziggy Marley, The Wailing Souls and one of my favorites is Burning Spear. I think I have 5 of their records? I just went down an hour long rabbit hole looking for something representative of their sound and couldn't decide so here's this one that is mostly just an instrumental jam. Their sound has a lot of layers. They have hundreds of videos and long mixes on YouTube and have been around for a very long time

🎶 I remember when
I remember, I remember when I lost my mind;
There was something so pleasant about that place
Even your emotions have an echo in so much space
And when you're out there without care
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much
Does that make me crazy

And I hope that you are having the time of your life
But think twice, that's my only advice
Come on now, who do you, who do you, who do you
Who do you think you are
Ha ha ha, bless your soul
You really think you're in control 🎶

I like the lyrics (still fitting today) & the melody rhythm.

Released in 1989, this single reached number 1 in Australia, Canada, Ireland and the US, while it was number 2 in the UK. Masterpiece lyrics!

Mike + The Mechanics - The Living Years
🎶 Every generation
Blames the one before
And all of their frustrations
Come beating on your door
I know that I'm a prisoner
To all my Father held so dear
I know that I'm a hostage
To all his hopes and fears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years 🎶

My fix when I'm having a shitty Monday.

Tomas Barfod is fascinated with the idyllic wasteland, unveiling 'Salton Sea', an LP on the Friends of Friends imprint that draws from the concept of urban decay. The producer and drummer of the popular Danish group WhoMadeWho, with a history of solo and collaborative releases for Get Physical, Turbo, Gomma, and Kompakt, Barfod's latest full-length balances contrasts. At times bright with delicate pop melodies, 'Salton Sea' boldly submerges into dark, morose rhythms, juxtaposing the graceful and desolate characteristics of the Californian lakebed the album shares its name with. Neofolk is a form of experimental music blending elements of folk and industrial music, which emerged in punk rock circles in the 1980s. Neofolk may either be solely acoustic or combine acoustic folk instrumentation with various other sounds.
