Do you care about the World Cup? Are you planning to watch any of it?

Did you care before it came to the U.S. or watch it?

My guess is most "Muricans don't really care that much or at least not as much as they do in many other countries?

Me personally? I couldn't care less, don't plan to watch any of it and am tired with the hype surrounding the whole thing.

Despite the U.S. hosting this year’s World Cup, many Americans aren’t that interested in the world’s best coming stateside.

In a poll of registered voters by Emerson College, 22% said they are very interested and 33% said they are somewhat interested. Forty-five percent said they have no interest.

Interest varied sharply by age. Just 10% of those 70 and older said they are very interested, compared with 43% of those ages 30-39 and 33% of those 18-29. Six in 10 people 70 and older said they have no interest, compared with two in 10 people ages 18-29.

The poll also found a racial divide. White Americans were twice as likely to express no interest in the World Cup compared with Hispanic and Black Americans. Hispanic and Latino respondents were three times more likely than white respondents to say they will closely follow the tournament.

In the 70 and older demographic and white, it's no wonder I don't care!

I've never understood the fanaticism of people who watch grown men play the adult version of kickball. I don't watch any sport because it's just boring. I have seen serious bar fights break out over which team is better and I have to wonder why. It's not you playing, it's not one of your kids, it's just their ego living a dream they could never achieve. Why are they cheering for a bunch of guys they have never and will never even meet ? People spend SERIOUS money for tickets, jerseys or other memorabilia and don't get me started on the riots after a team has lost.
My favorite hobby is fishing and I don't even watch that.

I might watch the US play. Actually, went to a world cup match in Chicago in 94. Saw Greece and Argentina(?) play. Greece won, (thank god, we were sitting with a bunch of Greeks)

Don't care at all. Never have. Sporting wise I grew up on baseball, track, motocross, hockey.

As every kid representing their nation should. I was into athhletics, bike riding, football and cricket. Never soccer. Then I joined the navy. Sigh, had to do as I was told. But. and big but, later after I left the navy, I did rep baseball at Alice Springs for an obscure team against the yanks, who mostly, came from and represented USA through 'Pine Gap' Hahha. They were pretty good. Meaning we were crap.

Fond memories.

Kind regards,

Its historic the games are snoozers but I played enough FIFA/EASports to get it

Watched the USA/Paraguay match in the background last night... as long as the games/fans/protestors cause no disruptions, it's pumping bucks into our local economy on some levels. Hosting the World Cup helped the local NFL team get a new stadium years ago.

Would love to see the USA advance deep in the quarter finals or semis
