META’s new Brain2Qwerty v2 makes brain-to-text communication a reality. Here’s how it works: Nine participants spent 10 hours each inside brain scanners, mentally typing 22,000 AI-generated sentences. An advanced AI pipeline then decoded their raw neural signals back into text.
Currently, this uses a giant MEG scanner filling an entire room because it requires cryogenic cooling to keep its sensors running. To bypass this limitation, researchers are looking at flexible, wearable designs that function at room temperatures, these sensors can be arranged inside a lightweight, flexible helmet.
